Almost every guide to SA casino withdrawals — including ours, until August 2026 — tells you the same thing: vouchers are for depositing, and when you want your winnings you'll need a bank account. Go open a TymeBank.

That's wrong, and it's wrong in the direction that costs you the most. If you deposit with cash vouchers because you don't have a bank account, one operator will pay you out the same way you paid in.

Hollywoodbets pays winnings out as vouchers — including a Shoprite Cash voucher you redeem for actual banknotes at the till. Buy a 1Voucher at Shoprite, deposit it, win, cash out at the same Shoprite. No bank account touches either end.

Here's exactly how it works, what it costs you, and the one option that can quietly eat your money.

The honest caveat first

We have not timed a voucher withdrawal yet. Everything on this page comes from Hollywoodbets' published terms, read in full on 11 August 2026 — not from a stopwatch.

That matters on a site called BetProof. Our timed Hollywoodbets test was an EFT withdrawal to Capitec that landed in 3 hours 22 minutes — the fastest payout we've measured anywhere in SA. The voucher route is documented, not measured. A timed Shoprite Cash test is on Natalia's list, and when it's done the real number goes here.

Treat the 24-hour processing window below as the operator's commitment, not our verdict.

Which operators pay out to vouchers?

Of the eleven operators we review, exactly one.

If you're playing anywhere other than Hollywoodbets and you don't have a bank account, you have a problem the moment you win. That's worth knowing before you deposit, not after.

The four voucher payout options

VoucherMinMax per withdrawalValid forGet cash?
Shoprite Cash (Money Market)R100R3,0003 yearsYes — cash at Shoprite tills
Eezi CashR50R2,5007 daysYes
OTT VoucherR50R1,0003 yearsNo — spend at OTT partners
Blu VoucherR50R1,0003 yearsNo — spend at Blu partners

The monthly ceiling is R25,000, and it's shared. It applies across all four methods combined — not R25,000 each. Win big and you'll be back to EFT whether you like it or not.

Shoprite Cash is the one you want

For most people this is the right pick, and it isn't close:

  • It pays real cash at a Shoprite till, not store credit
  • The R3,000 ceiling is the highest of the four
  • It's valid three years, so there's no rush
  • Shoprite is where a huge number of South Africans already shop weekly

The one constraint the others don't have: it's bound to Shoprite Money Market trading hours, not just the 24-hour processing window. Your voucher can be issued while the counter is shut, so plan around store hours rather than assuming the money is spendable the second the SMS arrives.

Eezi Cash expires in seven days — this is the trap

Eezi Cash also pays out in cash, up to R2,500. But the voucher is valid for seven days from creation, and then it's gone. In Hollywoodbets' own words, it auto-expires and the funds revert to Hollywoodbets.

The other three run for three years. Eezi runs for a week.

Cash out on a Friday, get busy, remember the following weekend — that's your money gone. Not frozen, not refunded on request. Gone.

There is no scenario we can see where Eezi Cash beats Shoprite Cash. Shoprite pays more (R3,000 vs R2,500), pays the same actual cash, and gives you three years instead of seven days. Take the Shoprite Cash voucher.

OTT and Blu are spending power, not cash

Both cap at R1,000 per withdrawal and cannot be exchanged or refunded for cash. You spend them at selected partner outlets, and Hollywoodbets is explicit that the partner list can change.

They're fine if you'd have spent the money at those outlets anyway. As a way of getting paid, R1,000 at a time in non-refundable credit is the weakest of the four. A R4,000 payout is four separate OTT withdrawals; the same money is two Shoprite Cash vouchers.

Worth noting for the 1Voucher vs OTT decision: OTT is the only one of that pair that works in both directions.

How the payout actually reaches you

All four share the same mechanics:

  1. Request the withdrawal in your Hollywoodbets account and pick the voucher type.
  2. Processing within 24 hours (Shoprite Cash additionally waits on Money Market trading hours).
  3. Two SMSes arrive — the amount first, then the PIN, usually about five minutes apart.
  4. Redeem it. Shoprite Cash and Eezi Cash at the till for banknotes; OTT and Blu at partner outlets.

The SMS goes only to the verified SA cell number linked to your account. Payment is to the account holder alone — the right to payment is neither transferable nor negotiable, so you can't have it paid to a partner, a friend, or someone else's phone.

If you changed your cell number recently, expect verification checks before the withdrawal is released. Change it immediately before requesting a payout and you should assume a delay.

Once paid, it's irreversible. And if money reaches you in error, the terms require you to report it immediately — anything spent before you report is repayable, and Hollywoodbets can deduct it from your account.

"No bank account" does not mean "no FICA"

This is the part people get wrong, so let's be blunt about it.

Skipping the bank does not skip verification. Your first withdrawal at any SA-licensed operator requires FICA — an ID document and proof of address. Hollywoodbets' terms also reserve the right to demand FICA documents before paying out any voucher, and to reject a withdrawal where irregular activity is detected.

So the cash route buys you two real things:

  • No bank account required — genuinely useful if you don't have one, or can't easily open one
  • No gambling line item on a bank statement — the privacy benefit that draws most people to vouchers in the first place

What it does not buy you is anonymity. The operator knows exactly who you are. Get your FICA documents uploaded and approved early — doing it before your first deposit means the first withdrawal isn't the thing that holds you up.

The full cash loop, start to finish

Putting it together, here's the complete no-bank round trip:

  1. Buy a 1Voucher at Shoprite with cash — R10 minimum, no fees, no card.
  2. Redeem the PIN at Hollywoodbets; the balance updates in seconds.
  3. Complete FICA before you need it.
  4. Play. Set a deposit limit first.
  5. Withdraw as a Shoprite Cash voucher — R100 to R3,000.
  6. Collect cash at the Shoprite till.

Cash in and cash out at the same shop. For a lot of South Africans that's not a novelty — it's the only version of this that works.

Is it worth it over just opening an account?

Straight answer: if you can easily open a bank account, do that instead.

EFT is faster in practice (our timed Hollywoodbets EFT was 3h 22m against a documented 24-hour window for vouchers), it has no R25,000 monthly ceiling, no R3,000 per-withdrawal cap, and no expiry to track. TymeBank opens at a Pick n Pay or Boxer kiosk in minutes with just your SA ID and charges no monthly fee.

The voucher route earns its place when opening an account isn't realistic, when you specifically want gambling off your bank statement, or when your bank has a habit of blocking gambling transactions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I withdraw casino winnings without a bank account in South Africa?

Yes, at Hollywoodbets. They pay winnings out as Shoprite Cash vouchers (R100–R3,000, redeemable for cash at any Shoprite till), Eezi Cash (R50–R2,500, cash, 7-day expiry), or OTT and Blu vouchers (R50–R1,000, spendable at partner outlets). Every other operator we review pays by EFT to a bank account only.

Which casino pays out to a Shoprite voucher?

Hollywoodbets. Their Shoprite Cash Voucher (run on the Shoprite Money Market system) pays R100 to R3,000 per withdrawal, is valid for three years, and is redeemed for cash at Shoprite tills. Processing is within 24 hours but also depends on Money Market trading hours.

How much can I withdraw as a voucher per month?

R25,000, and that cap is shared across all four voucher types rather than applying to each one. Individual withdrawals are capped at R3,000 (Shoprite Cash), R2,500 (Eezi Cash) or R1,000 (OTT and Blu).

Do I still need FICA if I withdraw to a voucher?

Yes. FICA verification — an ID document and proof of address — is required before your first withdrawal regardless of the method. Hollywoodbets also reserves the right to request FICA documents before releasing any voucher payout, and to reject withdrawals where irregular activity is detected. Avoiding a bank account doesn't make you anonymous.

What happens if I don't redeem my Eezi Cash voucher in time?

You lose the money. Eezi Cash is valid for only seven days from creation; after that it expires automatically and the funds revert to Hollywoodbets. This is the single biggest risk in the voucher payout route, and it's why we'd take the Shoprite Cash voucher instead — same cash outcome, R3,000 instead of R2,500, and three years to redeem it.

Can someone else collect my voucher payout for me?

No. Payment is made to the account holder alone and the right to payment is neither transferable nor negotiable. The SMS with the PIN goes only to the verified SA cell number linked to your account. If you've recently changed that number, expect verification checks before the withdrawal is released.

Can I withdraw to a 1Voucher?

No. 1Voucher is deposit-only at every operator we review. The vouchers Hollywoodbets pays out are Shoprite Cash, Eezi Cash, OTT and Blu. You can still deposit with a 1Voucher and withdraw as a Shoprite Cash voucher — both bought and redeemed at Shoprite.
