Blu Voucher is the third major prepaid voucher system for SA casino deposits, alongside 1Voucher and OTT Voucher. I tested it in March 2026 with a purchase from Shoprite and a deposit at Hollywoodbets. For all voucher options, see our voucher deposits hub. Our testing methodology covers how we evaluate payment methods. It’s less well-known than the other two but growing in availability — and it has some advantages worth considering. I nearly walked past the Blu Voucher option at Shoprite’s Money Market counter — it was listed between prepaid electricity and DStv payments. Not exactly prominently displayed, but it’s there.

What is Blu Voucher?

Blu Voucher is a prepaid payment voucher available at selected South African retailers. Like 1Voucher and OTT, you buy it with cash, receive a PIN, and use that PIN to deposit at online casinos.

It’s part of the Blue Label Telecoms ecosystem — the same company behind various prepaid airtime, electricity, and digital payment products distributed across SA retail.

Where to buy Blu Voucher

  • Shoprite / Checkers — At the till or Money Market counter
  • PEP — Selected branches
  • Selected Flash retailers — Some convenience stores and informal shops
  • Online purchase — The voucher can sometimes be purchased digitally through the Flash app

The retail footprint is smaller than both 1Voucher and OTT Voucher as of March 2026, though it’s growing. Before relying on it, confirm it’s available at your nearest retailer — availability varies by location. If you’re not sure, 1Voucher at Shoprite is the safest bet.

Maximum per voucherR5,000

The R5,000 maximum matches OTT Voucher and exceeds 1Voucher’s R3,000 cap. The 12-month expiry is the same as OTT and shorter than 1Voucher’s 24 months.

Which casinos accept Blu Voucher?

Blu Voucher acceptance is growing but isn’t as universal as 1Voucher and OTT:

The major SA operators (Hollywoodbets, Betway, Supabets) accept Blu Voucher reliably. At smaller operators, check the deposit methods page before purchasing a voucher.

How to deposit with Blu Voucher

The process is straightforward — identical to 1Voucher and OTT Voucher in flow:

Step 1: Buy your Blu Voucher

Visit a participating retailer and ask for a “Blu Voucher” in the amount you want (R10–R5,000). The cashier processes it through the Blue Label/Flash terminal system. You’ll receive a receipt or printed slip with a 16-digit PIN (keep that receipt safe — no PIN, no money).

Where to buy (detailed):

  • Shoprite / Checkers: Ask at the till or the Money Market counter. Not all tills process Blu Voucher — the Money Market counter is the safest bet.
  • PEP: Available at most branches. Ask at the till point.
  • Flash retailers: Convenience stores, garages, and some spaza shops with Flash terminals. Availability varies — ask before queuing.
  • Online via Flash app: Sometimes available for digital purchase, though this isn’t consistent.

Tip: Keep your receipt safe. The 16-digit PIN is your money. If you lose it before using it, there’s no recovery mechanism.

Step 2: Log in and deposit

  1. Open the Hollywoodbets app (or your chosen casino)
  2. Go to Deposits → select “Blu Voucher”
  3. Enter the deposit amount (must not exceed your voucher balance)
  4. Enter the 16-digit PIN from your receipt
  5. Tap Deposit — balance updates instantly

Our test timing: From entering the PIN to balance reflecting — under 5 seconds. The validation is instant.

Partial redemption

You don’t have to deposit the full voucher amount. If you bought a R500 Blu Voucher and deposit R200, the remaining R300 stays on the voucher for later use. To check your remaining balance, contact Blu Voucher support or check via the Flash app.

Troubleshooting Blu Voucher deposits

“Voucher not recognised” error: Make sure you’re selecting “Blu Voucher” specifically — not “1Voucher” or “OTT Voucher.” Each system has separate PIN formats and validation backends. A 1Voucher PIN will not work in the Blu Voucher field.

PIN entered correctly but deposit fails: Check the expiry date on your receipt. Blu Vouchers expire 12 months from purchase — shorter than 1Voucher’s 24-month window. Expired vouchers cannot be redeemed.

Casino doesn’t list Blu Voucher: Not all operators have added it. If Blu Voucher isn’t shown on the deposit page, use 1Voucher or OTT instead. These are more widely accepted.

Retailer terminal offline: The Flash/Blue Label terminal at the shop needs connectivity to generate vouchers. If the system is down, try another retailer or come back later.

When to choose Blu Voucher:

  • You’re already at a retailer that stocks Blu Voucher but not the others
  • You need the R5,000 per-voucher limit and prefer Shoprite (where OTT isn’t available)
  • You’re familiar with other Blue Label / Flash products

When to choose 1Voucher instead:

  • You want the widest casino acceptance (safest default)
  • You want the longest 24-month expiry
  • You shop at Shoprite regularly

When to choose OTT Voucher instead:

  • You buy from spaza shops
  • You need R5,000 maximum with the widest informal retail availability

Common issues

“Voucher not recognised”: Ensure you’re selecting “Blu Voucher” specifically — not “1Voucher” or “OTT Voucher.” Each system has separate PIN formats and validation backends.

Casino doesn’t list Blu Voucher: Not all operators have added it. If Blu Voucher isn’t shown in the deposit methods, use 1Voucher or OTT instead — they’re more widely accepted.

Retailer doesn’t stock Blu Voucher: Availability varies by location. If your local shop doesn’t carry Blu Voucher, 1Voucher at Shoprite is the most reliable fallback.

Is it worth the hassle?

Blu Voucher is a solid third option in the SA voucher ecosystem. It works well at the big three operators and matches OTT’s R5,000 limit. But it’s not our first recommendation — 1Voucher has better casino acceptance and longer expiry, while OTT has better spaza shop distribution.

Use Blu Voucher when it’s the most convenient option at your nearest retailer. Otherwise, default to 1Voucher (formal retail) or OTT (informal retail). All three work at Hollywoodbets and Betway. As with any deposit method, set spending limits before your first session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Blu Voucher accepted at as many casinos as 1Voucher?

Not yet. Blu Voucher is accepted at Hollywoodbets, Betway, and Supabets reliably, with growing acceptance at smaller operators. 1Voucher still has the widest casino acceptance overall. Check your casino’s deposit page before buying a Blu Voucher.

What is the maximum Blu Voucher denomination?

R5,000 per voucher — the same as OTT Voucher and higher than 1Voucher’s R3,000 cap. The expiry is 12 months from purchase.

Can I buy a Blu Voucher online without going to a shop?

Sometimes. Blu Voucher can occasionally be purchased digitally through the Flash app, though availability varies. For guaranteed purchase, visit Shoprite, Checkers, or a PEP branch in person.

What’s the difference between Blu Voucher and a Betway voucher?

Blu Voucher is a general-purpose prepaid payment voucher from Blue Label Telecoms — usable at multiple casinos and online shops. A Betway voucher is specific to Betway only. Blu Voucher gives you flexibility to deposit at any accepting casino; a Betway voucher locks you into one platform.

Got your Blu Voucher? Set a limit, play your session, and walk away when the budget’s done. That’s the whole game plan.
