Ozow Casino Deposit Guide South Africa

Ozow is the most popular casino deposit method in South Africa — and for good reason. It’s the backbone of instant EFT casino banking in SA. It’s instant, free, and works with every major SA bank. No card number needed, no e-wallet to set up, no voucher to buy at a shop. You just log into your online banking, approve the payment, and your casino balance updates in seconds.

We’ve used Ozow for dozens of casino deposits across multiple banks and operators — most recently in March 2026 using Capitec and FNB accounts. Our testing methodology covers how we verify each deposit flow. Ozow is the one deposit method I’d recommend to anyone — my mom could do it, and she still thinks ‘the Google’ is the internet.

What is Ozow?

Ozow is a South African instant EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payment platform. When you select Ozow at a casino, it redirects you to your bank’s online banking portal, where you log in and approve the transaction. The money moves from your bank to the casino instantly.

The platform connects businesses with 47 million SA bank account holders and processes over $100 million in monthly transaction volume across thousands of merchants — not just casinos. They’re adding 140,000+ new users per month. It’s a legitimate, well-funded payment company (backed by a $48M Series B led by Tencent).

Key point: Ozow never sees or stores your banking credentials. You log in directly at your bank’s website. The service acts as a secure intermediary that initiates the transfer, but your username and password are entered on your bank’s own platform.

Which banks work with Ozow?

All major SA banks:

  • Capitec — Works perfectly, our fastest test
  • FNB — Works for SA-licensed casinos (may block some offshore)
  • Absa — Reliable
  • Standard Bank — Reliable
  • Nedbank — Reliable
  • TymeBank — Works well
  • Discovery Bank — Works

FNB is the only bank where we’ve seen occasional blocks — and those are for offshore casinos, not SA-licensed operators. If FNB blocks your Ozow deposit, read our FNB blocked deposit troubleshooting guide.

Which casinos accept Ozow?

Every major SA-licensed operator:

CasinoOzow DepositsOzow WithdrawalsMin Deposit
HollywoodbetsR10
Betway SAR10
SupabetsR10
PlayaBetsR20
YesPlayR10
10betR20

Offshore casinos: Ozow availability has improved. Springbok Casino now accepts Ozow and SiD Instant EFT. Europa Casino sometimes offers Ozow via EasyEFT. However, some SA banks (particularly FNB) may still block Instant EFT transactions to offshore gambling merchants even when the casino supports it.

How to deposit with Ozow — step by step

I tested this at Betway SA with a Capitec account.

Step 1: Select Ozow at the casino

Go to the deposit page and select “Ozow,” “Instant EFT,” or “EFT” (different casinos label it differently, but it’s the same Ozow system).

Step 2: Enter your deposit amount

Type the amount you want to deposit. Minimums vary by operator (typically R10-R20).

Step 3: Select your bank

Ozow shows a list of supported banks. Tap yours.

Step 4: Log into your bank

You’re redirected to your bank’s secure login page. This is your actual bank website — check the URL in your browser. Enter your online banking credentials.

Step 5: Approve the payment

Your bank shows the payment details (amount, reference). Approve it using your bank’s normal method — Capitec uses an in-app approval, FNB uses InContact, Absa uses their app notification.

Step 6: Done

You’re redirected back to the casino. Your balance reflects the deposit immediately.

That’s it.

Our Capitec test timing (March 2026): From tapping “Deposit” to seeing the updated casino balance — 22 seconds. That includes the redirect, login, approval, and return. Your timing may vary depending on your bank’s app speed and internet connection. Read our full Betway review for more on the deposit experience.

Ozow for withdrawals

Some casinos also offer Ozow for withdrawals (EFT cashout). The process:

  1. Go to Withdraw → select “EFT” or “Ozow”
  2. Enter your bank account details (account number, branch code)
  3. Enter the withdrawal amount
  4. Confirm

Withdrawal processing is not instant like deposits. Expect:

CasinoTypical Ozow/EFT Withdrawal Time
Hollywoodbets24-48 hours
Betway SA24-72 hours
Supabets24-48 hours

First withdrawal note: Your first withdrawal at any casino requires FICA verification (ID document and proof of address). Complete this early to avoid delays when you want to cash out. And always set deposit limits before your first session.

Ozow limits

Typical Range
Minimum depositR10-R20 (varies by casino)
Maximum depositR50,000+ (varies by bank and casino)
Daily limitDepends on your bank’s online payment limit
FeesFree (at all casinos we tested)

If your deposit fails due to a limit, check your bank’s online payment or transfer limit in your banking app settings. You may need to increase it.

Ozow troubleshooting

“Transaction failed” after bank login:

  • Check your available balance — you need the full deposit amount available
  • Check your bank’s online transfer limit
  • Try a smaller amount
  • If FNB: the bank may be blocking gambling merchants — see our FNB guide

Redirected back to casino but balance not updated:

  • Wait 2-3 minutes — sometimes there’s a slight processing delay
  • Check your bank statement — if the debit shows, contact the casino’s support
  • If the debit doesn’t show on your bank statement, the transaction wasn’t completed

Bank login page won’t load:

  • Clear your browser cache
  • If using a casino app, try the mobile browser version instead
  • Some banks have maintenance windows — try again in 30 minutes

“Session expired” error:

  • You took too long on the bank login page. Start the deposit again from the casino side.

Our recommendation: Ozow is the best all-round deposit method for SA players who have a bank account. It’s fast, free, works everywhere, and supports both deposits and withdrawals. Use vouchers only if you don’t have a bank account or specifically want to keep gambling off your bank statement. Capitec users can also try Capitec Pay for an even simpler flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Ozow store my banking login details?

No. Ozow never sees or stores your banking credentials. You log in directly on your bank’s own secure website. Ozow acts as a secure intermediary that initiates the transfer — your username and password are entered on your bank’s platform only.

Can I use Ozow to withdraw casino winnings?

Yes, at most SA-licensed casinos. The withdrawal process uses standard EFT to your bank account — select “EFT” or “Ozow” at the withdrawal page and enter your banking details. Withdrawals aren’t instant like deposits; expect 24–72 hours depending on the operator.

Why did my Ozow deposit fail with FNB?

FNB’s MCC filters sometimes block gambling-related transactions, particularly to offshore operators. For SA-licensed casinos, Ozow usually works fine with FNB. If it fails, see our FNB blocked deposit guide for tested workarounds.

Is Ozow available at offshore casinos?

Availability varies. Springbok Casino now accepts Ozow and SiD Instant EFT. Europa Casino’s Ozow support is inconsistent. SA-licensed operators all support Ozow reliably.

Ozow makes depositing almost too easy. That’s exactly why deposit limits matter — set them before your first session.
